I presume most bowlers who are constantly trying to get better are like me. We meticulously pick apart every aspect of our physical game every time we practice. Even if it's not "really" the problem, and I'm just deflecting my guilt over lack of a consistent practice schedule. 👀 BUT I think I ACTUALLY had a breakthrough moment here. Bear with me, because you won't see the change, but will see the results of it!
I've always tried to keep my balance arm relaxed with my thumb down, but never realized just how much it moves until looking back at some practice recordings from, you know, definitely recent.
Shot 1 is my normal shot with my balance arm relaxed. It raises up and out to the side before my downswing motion starts, then ends up behind me. On shot 2, instead of just turning my left hand palm away, I engage my left shoulder ever so slightly to roll my arm down, rather than just my hand. This accomplishes the same principle, but allows more stability for me at the line. It also allows me keep that arm in front long enough for my downswing to start, which gives me more power just from the transfer of energy being more aligned.
It's more of an observation that I FELT more comfortable and balanced when doing this, but I need more practice to make this better. I can't consistently repeat the exact amount of rotation each time. But that's a good start to getting better! Find ways to be more comfortable, and REPEAT!
