Feathers+Flora Fine Art Finding her favorite medium of acrylics at an early age gave her the time to develop and change her styles and techniques over the years.

About the Artist: Dawn Marie Williams
Somewhere between the sands of South Florida and the songs of Nashville, where this local Old Hickory Artist resides, she found her love for painting the Feathers+Flora around her. As a young artist she found inspiration in the small flowers of Georgia O’Keeffe and desired for them to be larger than life floral works. O’Keeffe’s buildings and landscapes lent t

hemselves to her Caribbean building-scapes with their simple lines and bright bold tropical colors. Teaching herself how to work and blend with the quicker drying acrylics posed a challenge on these larger canvases but working on the curves and the folds of the flowers brought a new vision of forms and lines into her artwork. With this new sight she transitioned into painting a more diluted abstract sensual image of the female figure. Now placing emphasis on the simple form and not on the intimate detail the body. And yet, still bold with their colors as with all her works, color has always remained the primary focus. After a long hiatus, she returned to her favorite medium and her brushes, found her love for painting once again and made herself a special place to create. Inspired by the colors of her travels to the Caribbean and the Florida Keys she found her most beloved feathered muses. Forever changing and teaching herself new techniques, she began to paint smaller and keep it grand. This time it was all about the details, the details of the colors. With that the name, Feathers+Flora, a love for her new art and a tribute to her past works brings you into her world of sunny days in the South Florida Keys.

From the Florida Keys to Nashville. Color, movement, and inspiration everywhere. My work is rooted in the beauty of the natural world, from flowing florals to my beloved feathered muses. Inspired by the vibrant colors of the Keys and the storytelling of Hemingway, each piece explores form, softness, and emotion through bold color and expressive design.

Lately, I’ve been drawn to the details, the subtle shifts in color, the quiet complexity within each subject while still holding onto that sense of scale and impact. Step into a world of sun, color, and movement.
