Hello All, we have just gotten word from the Commander and Quartermaster of the VFW. They have made an announcement that on Wednesday, the VFW will be closed and people from State will be coming in. With this happening, we do know what all this entails beyond inspections and audits. However, there is a chance that we will not have bowling and a chance that they could possibly shut down the establishment. With that being said, we think it would be best to alert anyone with equipment store in our lockers that are on your leagues to come get them tomorrow evening, if possible. We just want to prepare for worst case scenario. Unfortunately, this is out of our control but we are going to show up and do everything we can to have the lanes remain open. We will update you asap. Please let us know if someone can’t get their equipment and we will do our best to get it in one of our vehicles.

Dues and Fees
League Fees: $405 per bowler. Paying 27 weeks at $15/week is encouraged. This means there are 3 weeks where a bowler will not need to pay. Also, bowlers may payoff the $405 at any time they desire, including day 1 of league play.
League fees are non-refundable. All league fees must be paid in full
in order to attend the end of year banquet.
If all fees are not paid in a bowling season, bowlers must payoff each half season before they my bowl the following season, so a minimum of $202.50 is due prior to start of bowling week 1.

Starting Averages
If a player does not have an entering average they will be appointed an average of 120 for one week only, then an average will be established going forward.

If a bowler was in the league the prior year their ending average will be applied week #1 for handicapping. Week #1 scores will then be used to establish week #2 handicaps. After week #2 cumulative scores will be applied to build handicaps as the year progresses. 1st half handicaps carryover into 2nd half of season.

Attendance/Pre-Bowl
Let a board member know in advance if you are going to be absent.
If you know you are going to miss a league night you are permitted to pre-bowl.
Pre-bowling must take place at Herminie Lanes, and it must take place between the end of bowling on the Thursday before you planned absence and the beginning of bowling on the Thursday that you will miss.

When bowling out you must alternate lanes – Advise the lane operator that you are bowling out for a league and ask to have the lanes alternate.

Bowling out prior to championship week must be witnessed by a bowler from the opposing team, or a board member.

If you do not bowl out, 10 pins will be deducted from your average.

If you miss more than 3 weeks (no show, no pre-bowl) in a row, you will be removed from the team/league.
You may request to be reinstated. The board will discuss and decide if you may return. If you do return, all remaining fees for the half season that you are in must be paid in full prior to returning.
In the event that a player is removed, that bowler’s average will be used throughout the remaining season unless a replacement is found.

Tardiness/Missed Frames
Tardy players can only enter the game if they arrived before completion of the 5th frame of the first game. At that point, the player’s average minus 10 points will be used for that game.

When a player leaves during play and does not complete a game for reasons other than a serious medical emergency, the player’s team shall count zero for each remaining frame in the game. A player who leaves a game cannot return to bowl in the same game.

There is no waiting for a player to return to resume play. If a player has not returned in time for the start of the next game, or for their frame, the player’s team shall count those missed frames as zero if the bowler cannot be located or does not return to the lanes promptly when asked to take their turn. The opposing team can and should initiate the request with the opposing team’s captain.

Handicap/Vacancy
120 Points will be used for all vacancies.
100% of team handicap will be used for all games.

Bowling Etiquette/Spectators
Please remember common bowling courtesy. Do not approach the lanes until the bowler(s) to either side of you has thrown their ball.

Vulgarity, profanity and aggressive behavior will not be tolerated. Bowlers who offend other bowlers in any way will be asked to avoid further behaviors or they will be asked to leave the alleys and their teams will be penalized. Continued misconduct will result in dismissal from the league.

Do not distract or rush other bowlers while on their approach.

Keep smoking breaks to a minimum and if needed should only be done between games and kept as brief as possible. Remember that bowling shoes are not permitted to be worn outside unless you are wearing shoe coverings.

Be sure to keep your table and bowling area clean. Return all drinkware to the bar and throw all garbage away. Your table should be left the same way you found it.

Due to the volume of bowlers and seating capacity, we ask that spectators be held to spouses only, bowlers are to be seated/accommodated first.

Outside bowlers are not permitted to bowl or fill in on league nights.

Good Sportsmanship
Be a good winner or loser! Our #1 goal is to have a fun night out.

Captains Responsibilities
Make sure team is finishing practice at 6:45 and that the lanes are cleared of
bowlers by the 6:45 start time.

The team captain MUST keep their bowlers alert and ready to take their turns. Captains are to enforce the ZERO score in a frame when bowlers cannot be found or do not return to lanes when requested.

It is the captains responsibly to inform board members with any discrepancies before,
during, or after play.

Parties
Three parties will be scheduled in-season, Halloween, Christmas and St Patrick’s Day. All teams will be assigned only 1 party to provide food/snacks for. The league banquet will be funded by league dues and raffle/game collections.

The Board members may at any time in its sole discretion change the rules and bi-laws set forth above. Any additional issues brought forth will be discussed between and resolved by board members.
