Ravi, my Alexandrine is an incredibly intelligent and highly active bird. We switched out his toys; we do this one or two times per week. It may seem excessive but he rips through them like there is no tomorrow.

You'll see in the background that we have toys designed for much larger birds in his cage. This particular one has harder material such as coconut shell and manzanita, but that won't stop him. It will take him more time, but he will tear it to shreds. He currently has 3 puzzle toys, one of which is how we feed him, one softer wood toy, the heavy duty toy, and then one made of seagrass that is quick and easy to shred. He has a tree stand with it's own toys and foraging stations, the plastic ball he loves to swing on, and while his base diet is tropican pellet he receives different fresh veggie blends every day.

So why am I saying this? Because it's a reminder that different birds have different needs. Its not about putting your bird in a cage and throwing a few toys in there. Have extra toys on standby and get your birds acclimated to an environment that changes. Learn to identify your bird's needs so that you can meet them properly. If he had no outlet for this energy it could manifest a myriad of bad behaviors.
