The Carolina Concert Choir has a very exciting announcement regarding its 2026-2027 season! The repertoire for this season includes the two most renowned and well-loved choral/orchestral works of the Baroque Era: G. F. Handel’s "Messiah" (Christmas portion + Hallelujah) for the Winter Concerts and J. S. Bach’s "St. Matthew Passion" (in the version by Felix Mendelssohn) for the Spring Concerts.
The dates for the performances of these masterpieces are as follows: "Messiah" will be presented December 11 (7:30 p.m.) and 12 (2:00 p.m.), 2026; and the "St. Matthew Passion" will be presented April 16 (7:30 p.m.) and 17 (2:00 p.m.), 2027. All performances will take place in the visually and aurally beautiful sanctuary of Grace Lutheran Church, 1245 6th Ave. west in Hendersonville, NC. A very special and unique aspect of the offering of the Bach work this season is that April 2027 commemorates the 300th anniversary of the premiere performance of the "St. Matthew Passion" conducted by Bach himself. It took place in the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, Germany where Bach was the "Kapellmeister."
