On Thursday, January 23, 2025, Deputy Randy Linville, assigned as the School Resource Officer at the High School, experienced a medical emergency while on duty. Shortly before 7 AM, Deputy Linville transmitted a garbled message to dispatch. Concerned by the nature of the transmission, nearby deputies promptly checked on Deputy Linville and found him in his patrol car at the front of the school. Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to provide immediate assistance. Deputy Linville was subsequently airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Another deputy has taken over the SRO duties during Deputy Linville’s absence.
