The first round of paid testing for the next OSP sewing pattern is complete and some really great details have been added by our in house testers. We’re inviting sewists to participate in the final round of testing to offer more input about the experience. Here’s the details:

We’ll have a lot of the same testers from the on this one again, as both patterns were designed to go together. I’ve learned to really enjoy this part of sewing pattern development process and can’t wait to hear the final feedback. Head to the Elova Top link in our bio to find the application to be a tester. I’ve been wanting to involve my serger less in the construction of my garments. So, when the development came around I thought it was a great moment to include an advanced finishing technique like a bound zipper in a French seam. Many of our testers reported that they were nervous to try it at first, but the instructions + video walked them through it and they were able to achieve a beautiful finish that surprised them. 👏 It’s also not as hard as it looks!

I’ll be sure to post a dedicated tutorial for the bound zipper in a French seam at a later date.

NEW PATTERN RELEASE: The Willow Skirt - 20% off through February 24th, 2026 with code: WILLOW

It sits right at your natural waist with a hemline that hits just above the ankle. The box pleats at the front and back give it a sweeping fullness that moves so beautifully when you walk. French seams keep everything looking just as polished on the inside as the outside, and the invisible zipper has bound edges — a high-end technique that’s a lot easier than it sounds and will seriously level up your sewing skills...AND there is a video to help you, if it is your first time.
We’re doing something new with this one — the Willow Skirt guides you to cut, sew, and fit the waistband before touching any of the other pieces. Caught a glimpse of a wet looking nylon bag IRL and made my own version with the sewing pattern. There’s a full length video on our website of the making process. Sewing this bag in a fabric such as this required a bit of a different approach when it came to pressing seams and how the fabric layers feed through the machine. I covered all of the ways to make sewing a quilted nylon fabric like this easier and also how to manage it if you happen to not have all the extra tools available to you.
