April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month. Thurman White Academy Band would like to take this time to thank everyone who has volunteeted and helped us move Band and Jazz Equipment, stack and move chairs after a performance, brought in cases of water bottles from our cars, boxes of pizzas, and lent a hand whenever we sent a request out. It is because of parents and volunteers like you who gift your time and muscles, that make our Band program such a success. We see you, we value you, we appreciate you, and we are oh so grateful for you. Thank you.

Please join us this Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 4pm to 9pm at Cafe Zupas on 1381 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, NV.

We try to do a Fundraising Night at least once a month to not only offset the daily expenses of running a Middle School Band, but also to create memories, camaraderie, and to build the team dynamic. The success of Thurman White Academy’s Band program is because of your support and dedication.

Oh whatta Trip! April 3-6 our Thurman White Academy Of The Performing Arts Advanced Band/Wind Symphony partnered with Orchestra and made some everlasting memories. After our 10 hour bus ride, because our bus driver was super cautious, we walked across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was just what was needed after a long bus ride. Then we had dinner on Pier 39 and got to walk around the pier, and bark at some sea lions before heading to the hotel.

On Friday morning, we played and participated in an amazingly fun and informative clinic at San Jose University. Then it was time to explore and sightsee. First, it was pier 39 and the sea lions. Then the Fisherman’s Wharf sign, followed by a group pic at the beach with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Then Ghiradelli Square and Store where the chocolate was scrumptious. Next we took the Cable Cars to Chinatown passing Lombard Street and seeing some amazing views. Visited the Fortune Cookie Factory and watched them make fortune cookies while enjoying a free one, and walked through Chinatown to the Dragon Gate. Hopped back on the transit to Pier 39 where we had a group dinner at Hard Rock Cafe. Lastly, back to hotel where we called it a night.

Saturday, we had our Heritage Festival Performance bright and early. TWA’s Band and Orchestra did an incredible job! Then we headed to Great America where we got to ride some rides, eat, and attend the Awards Ceremony at the pavilion where we won Silver-2nd. We could not have been more proud of these incredible students.

Sunday, we headed back home.

Playing music, making Memories, and forming ever lasting bonds in San Francisco made for a remarkable trip that will forever be cherished.

Oh whatta April we are having. Huge Congratulations to our Thurman White Academy Of The Performing Arts Symphonic and Concert Bands at Festival. They both performed the BEST they ever have, and it was such a joy to witness them perform. Here’s some behind the scenes pictures you usually do not get to see.

TWA Band would like to take the time to say, “Thank you to all the parents, families, and friends out there who support these amazing students and watch them perform, while also transporting them to performances and festivals. You and your student will never regret the time you spend watching and performing in Band. We truly appreciate and thank each and every one of you”.

Thurman White Academy Of The Performing Arts Advanced Band Students are here in San Francisco and walked across the Golden Gate Bridge when we arrived yesterday. Today, we are super excited to participate in a clinic at San Jose University and then explore and enjoy the camaraderie while making music and memories.
