BORDELLO NIGHTS

“Jennifer Bellor tops exuberance with raciness in Bordello Nights, evoking smoky erotic haunts in New Orleans. Bellor is amazingly deft at pitting jazz soloists against big-band splashiness. I was riveted and entertained by its unfolding air of fantasia and improvisation.” – Huntley Dent, Fanfare Magazine

Received a few wonderful reviews on my album CATCHING CLOUDS and the one by Textura was published today!
"Crafted with finesse and thoughtfully arranged, the nine-part suite engages immediately for its sleek rhythmic pulses, melodic allure, and elegant design." - Textura
https://www.textura.org/archives/b/bellor_catchingclouds.htm

"The music exhales a sort of contained ecstasy, as if clarinet and sax are singing their joy into existence as they careen around each other....Her music, as was the case with Oneira, walks the perilous tightrope that exists between approachability and sophistication." Colin Clarke, Fanfare magazine
https://fanfarearchive.com/ntbm/articles/bellor-clarke.html

"In Catching Clouds, Jennifer Bellor masterfully bridges her deep classical roots with the fluid spontaneity of jazz. From the immediate, magical pull of the piano to the progressive fusion of the saxophone and bowed vibraphone, this album is more than a recording—it is a vivid narrative of sound and color. Bellor and her ensemble have crafted a contemporary masterwork that feels as much like an unfolding stage play as it does a sophisticated musical suite." - New Age Music Reviews

Beautiful evening at the Desert Roots Rising Stars Music Festival RESONANT EARTH concert at the UNLV Barrick Museum last night ✨🎶

Many thanks to Shakeh Ghoukasian for inviting me to arrange my piano/vibraphone piece CLOUDBREAK for piano quintet. I absolutely loved working on this new arrangement that featured Emily S. Richardson, Shakeh, Omar Shelly, Jeremy Russo, and Alexandria Le. They performed it so beautifully and I can’t wait to share a recording of it! 🎻🎹

Premiered GLEAM IRIDESCENCE at the International Trumpet Guild Conference New Works Recital today with David Puchkoff (🎺) and Ian Sullivan (vibraphone).

This was such a wonderful collaboration working with David and Ian, and it was an honor to be on the Hatch Hall stage to perform with them. 🎶

Commissioned by David, this was one of my projects since last August, which culminated in the premiere today and a studio recording (we will release the new track sometime over the summer) ☀️

Fantastic Nextet concert on Monday! 🎶🎉🤩 It was such an epic event that featured several premieres and performances featuring students, faculty, alumni and guest artists. Guest composer Robert Paterson gave a presentation to the composers, taught private lessons and even conducted one of his pieces, and guest artist James Doyle met with five of the composers on their new vibraphone interludes in a workshop before premiering them.

It was a wonderful experience organizing and programming everything for the residencies and concert, and I am extremely grateful to the performers involved for making this a truly memorable and special final concert to close the season.

I also loved being on stage to perform alongside Bryan Conger, Shawna Pennock, and James Doyle for the premiere of my piece, Catching Clouds. It was such a fun and thrilling experience for me, and can’t wait to perform with all of them again at our album release concert on April 26th (7pm at Southern Nevada Music).

Looking forward to planning out the next Nextet season!

I played this on the Doc Rando Hall stage a little while ago for fun while Shahab Zargari and I were doing a some music video shoots for other piano pieces of mine. Here are some clips of me playing live. (Thanks, Shahab!) 🎶🎬🎥

The entire piece is for vibraphone and piano and the recording will be featured on my new album, CATCHING CLOUDS.
