MANDATORY MEETING & TAG-IN

If you’re planning to show this fall you must attend one of two MANDATORY meetings offered to be eligible. This is a new General Rule put into place by the fair and being implemented through the livestock committees. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

The WCF Swine Committee will be meeting one hour prior as well on April 23rd at 6:00 for anyone wishing to attend.

The WCFA Bottle Babies Program is hosting a Bake Sale Fundraiser, and we’d love to see our community come out and support these hardworking kids! Every purchase helps our young exhibitors learn responsibility, sportsmanship, and the value of caring for their livestock projects.

🚨 Attention Waller County Livestock Owners 🚨

The Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) has confirmed a detection of New World Screwworm (NWS) in Zavala County, Texas. While this detection is not in Waller County, livestock owners are encouraged to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to protect their animals.

🐄 Help Protect Your Herd:

✔️ Clean and cover any open wounds on livestock.

✔️ Regularly inspect animals for flies, larvae, or unusual wounds.

✔️ Avoid management practices that may create open wounds whenever possible.

✔️ Promptly report suspicious wounds or signs of infestation to your veterinarian or animal health officials.

Early detection and prevention are critical in protecting Texas livestock and preventing the spread of New World Screwworm.

The Waller County Sheriff's Office Livestock Division encourages all cattle owners and livestock producers to stay informed and monitor their animals closely.

📞 If you observe suspicious wounds or have concerns regarding your livestock, contact your veterinarian or the appropriate animal health authorities immediately.
