Cohesion Dance Project Enriching, inspiring and uniting Helena through dance! cohesiondance.org / cohesiondanceproject@gmail

Throughout the year, CDP stages three community based dance performances and offers cost effective learning opportunities through integrated technique classes, community summer workshops, and adaptive dance classes for people with disabilities and special needs. Dancers and non-dancers of all ages and abilities explore movement within their own unique body structure, exercise their creative spirit through movement composition and choreography, and reach outside their comfort zones by working with others in an environment of partnership, mentorship, and collaboration. This page is dedicated to providing information about the events and happenings of Cohesion Dance Project and the performances it presents.

🐭⚔️ “The Dream Begins” 👑✨

What starts with a few curious little mice exploring the living room soon becomes an army of rats invading Marie’s dream! 🐁😮 She tries to wake herself up, but this nightmare is all too real!
Suddenly, the fearsome Rat Queen appears, determined to have Marie for dinner! 🐀👑 As the battle begins, Marie hides her beloved Nutcracker behind the bar to protect him. Just when all hope seems lost, a shot rings out—and to everyone’s amazement, the Nutcracker doll comes to life! ⚔️
The battle rages on, but Marie and the Nutcracker are outnumbered. As the Rat Queen prepares to deliver the final blow, Marie breaks free from the rats and saves the Nutcracker by wounding the Rat Queen. 🙌
Grateful for her bravery, the Nutcracker removes the Rat Queen’s crown and places it on Marie’s head. 👸 Together, they celebrate their victory and dance into the night! 💃🕺✨

🎉“The Party” 🎉

Marie, her mom and the hired help are preparing for their annual holiday party. The guests arrive and the party begins. 🎁The mean lady from across town has found out about the gathering and crashes the party. 😫 That is soon forgotten when the handsome new fella in town arrives. 🙋‍♂️The party is in full swing when the magical Madam Drosselmeier, who is known for her fabulous gifts and is always the life of the party arrives bearing gifts for all the children. 🪩✨ This year, she has created a special gift for Marie- a Nutcracker Doll with an extra kiss of magic. Eventually, the party winds down. After the guests finally leave and Marie is sent to bed, she sneaks back into the living room to be with her Nutcracker and falls asleep with the doll in her arms. Enter Drosselmeier, who in her love for Marie, sends her on a special journey in the form of a dream. She kisses her with magic to send her on her way…and the dream begins.💋🪄✨
