Gil Salk Modeling

Gil Salk Modeling I am an experienced figure model; will pose clothed or n**e for groups of experienced & beginner artists. See Blog at page bottom
Please Like this page.

I'm a MODEL, not a modeling agency (agency is the closest category Facebook has). I have more than 1,000 hours of experience posing for art classes, studios & galleries, museums, public art events, and individual artists & photographers. I'd be happy to send a detailed resume; just Message me from this page or email me at [email protected]. I do a wide variety of gesture and short poses,

as well as much longer poses during a period of one 3- to 6-hour meeting, or continued over several sessions for painting, sculpture, or other projects. I've helped art associations design Figure Study Open Studio programs, and I'd be happy to work with any group that is interested in setting up a Figure class or on-going Figure Studio. I can also give a lecture or Q&A presentation on "The Other Side of the Easel" about what it's like to be a figure model. The program can be adapted for any age group, and can even be made into part of a Figure Study event. Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions about my skills, experience, or availability. Of course, I'd appreciate it if you share my information with your artist friends. Modeling is a profession, and as with any profession, I rely a lot on word-of-mouth publicity. Your support is very important to me. Thank you for your attention. I hope you'll take a moment to "LIKE" this page.

Round 5 of chemo went well. Since my PET scan was clear, my doctor reduced my dose to try to avoid the fever spikes that hospitalized me after each of the previous sessions. Fingers crossed.
Only 3 more weeks of treatment, then, when my appetite returns, I'm looking forward to putting on some weight in fun ways.
Pizza party, anyone? With hot fudge sundae desserts, using my secret outstanding homemade family hot fudge recipe!
In the meantime, please VOTE. Kathy & I early voted Tuesday, the second day of early voting in our small town of Hebron. There was a line. Two more voted for Kamala in a safely blue state.

This just in! My PET scan was clear! No sign of cancer. Chemo will continue for 2 more session. Bring it on.

(Pre-P.S. - Despite all the below, I just got back from a half-mile walk...slow, but steady)
My chemotherapy adventures continue. On the good side, it appears that the treatment. is working; I'll be getting a PET scan soon to confirm that there are no bad guys hiding somewhere in my lymphatic system. I've been sort of lucky that I haven't had any of the common side effects like nausea, loss of taste (except for my sense of humor, of course), loss of appetite (reduced, but not gone), and other nasty stuff.
BUT each of my 3 chemo sessions has knocked my immune system for a loop. 3 chemo, 3 trips to the emergency room - high fever, abscess on left big toe that I'm still getting care for at the Wound Clinic (but it is healing nicely) - admitted for 4 days - Covid (knock out immune system and see what develops - 5 days in hospital), and just got out of emergence room visit for high temp and constant cough - but not worthy of being admitted, glad to say.
So, all in all, I think things are progressing well, and at some point my systems will be back to normal.
I've shaved my beard and head hair so it wouldn't be coming out in clumps - man, do I look different! I don't know yet whether I'll get back to modeling; I miss it, but my energy level is way down, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to hold poses. Stay tuned.

Hi, friends, I'm back, post-Covid. Man, have I missed posting - I didn't bring my laptop to the hospital.
I'm better now, so "now ain't the time for your tears."
Kathy Salk either caught it from me, or she gave it to me. Mine showed up a day earlier, and because I'm immuno-comprimised, mine was a little worse, but we're both recovering now and hope to be getting back to our now-normal INactivities soon.
So now is still not the time for your tears.
( I love invoking Dylan.)
I'm a bit confused about things now. Part of me wants to catch up on commenting about the last few days' of Duh!Nold's absurdities - I have so much I would have said - and letting the past be past and just move on from here.
I've ordered Harris/Walz (and down-ballot) lawn signs from my Town Democratic Committee; with Trump signs already up in my neighborhood, I needed to get my voice into the mix. (I had had a Biden/Harris sign up with no problems, so I assume I won't get any blowback about the new signs.)
I guess you can put your handkerchiefs away; it doesn't seem to be time for any tears (for me, at least) - the rest of the world, well ...
Bottom line: I'm still doing okay, despite the rocky road.
Peace to you all, my friends & family.

With Salem Valley Farms Ice Cream – I just got recognized as one of their top fans! πŸŽ‰
It's too bad I need to cut down on ice cream while I'm on chemo ... but maybe tomorrow on my way to the beach to get a little sun.

Pres. Biden's first sentence at the Dem's convention next week should be "No matter what weird fantasies Donal Trump has, I am not here to "reclaim my presidency."
[use finger quotes]
Pause for wild applause and laughter.

I've had to cancel a number of modeling gigs because I need to stay away from crowded rooms. >sigh<
My chemo adventures continue. I just spent 5 days in the hospital because I self-diagnosed a big-toe infection as gout ... until the blister popped. It was ugly; we went to the doctor; she took one look and said "serious cellulitis; get thee to an ER".
We did.
Gallons of antibiotics ensued. Surgeon was employed. Hundreds - thousands? - of finger sticks were jabbed. Vitals were checked every other minute. MRIs were noisily involved. 2nd chemo was postponed a week. Important thing: bone was only minimally involved, so my toe would be able to go home with me. Whew!
The moral of the story is that the rule should be taken VERY seriously. ALL wounds should be alarming, and doctors should be consulted immediately.
So, the adventure continues, and I will keep watching out for crocodiles in the stream of time.
Peace.

Welcome to all who've accepted my invitation to follow this page. It's mostly about my experiences as a figure model or an art follower - my politics are on my Gil Salk home page.
Posing opportunities are in the summer doldrums right now (and I'm a little incapacitated), but things should pick up when classes start again in September.
Peace.

What do you think? I'll be losing my hair - slowly and sporadically, I think.
Should I speed it up and shave?

CHALLENGE: Please, ***FB friends only***. Thanks.
Would someone design a shirt-front logo for me that says

I got cancer;
Cancer ain't got me!

(possibly with a cool illustration.)

Remember those bullies in middle school? They called names, they belittled, they disparaged - - they "grew up" to become Republicans.
ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO VOTE FOR THEM?
