History of the Peacock

For thirty years, the Peacock Performing Arts Center in Hayesville, NC has been the center of community and cultural activity, providing quality entertainment to residents of Western North Carolina and North Georgia. For this treasure we owe a debt of gratitude to the vision, determination and generosity of its benefactor, Lilith Lidseen. In 1970 she ignited a flame of ent

husiasm for the performing arts in Clay County. Through resources of the Lidseen Foundation and her own personal funds, she built the Peacock Playhouse, named in honor of her love for this exotic and beautiful bird. Since then theatergoers have enjoyed 130 high quality performances at the Playhouse. These shows were written by America’s finest playwrights and received critical acclaim when they appeared in New York.

Laurel Adams, Artistic Director, and Guest Director Ali B. Whitlock announce the cast for the fall production of Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure.
"We have a very strong cast of veterans and new-to-the-stage actors," says Whitlock. Sherlock Holmes is Alex Giles; Dr. Watson is Ben March; Professor Moriarity is Ed Legue; Irene Adler is Angela Martin. They are accompanied by Chad Kremblas (King of Bohemia); Jon Jordan (Larrabee aka Godfrey Norton) and Policeman; Grace MacLean (Madge Larrabee aka Maria); David Cady (Sid Prince); Gabriel Douberly (Post Boy/Young Swiss Man); David Layfield (Clergyman). Performances are Oct. 9-11; 16-18. Holmes is ready to wrap up his detective career, when a case presents itself that is too tempting to ignore. At the heart of the crime is Irene Adler and the King of Bohemia, plus a trio of con artists, and, of course, Moriarity! What is the "final adventure" of the title? Join us and find out!
