Two weeks from today two of my recent works will be included in the Guyette & Deeter auction in St. Michaels on July 24th and 25th.

My flying goose relief panel and blue jay family will both be offered in this sale, and it’s a privilege to have my work featured alongside so many amazing contemporary artists and historic makers.

If you have been following my work and have been considering adding one of my carvings to your collection, I encourage you to take the opportunity to register and participate in the auction if these pieces are of interest. You can attend in person or view the lots and bid here: https://bid.guyetteanddeeter.com

Thank you to everyone who has supported my work over the years. I’m grateful for the encouragement and look forward to seeing where these pieces find their next homes.

“From Thirteen Stars”

Now on display at the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum through December 2026.

This piece will be offered at auction in November, with 50% of the proceeds benefiting the Havre de Grace Decoy Museum.

Inspired by John Bellamy’s Figurehead Eagle from the USS Lancaster (c. 1881).

Carved from cedar and pine, assembled with hardwood dowels, and painted in artist oils.

Artist Statement:

From thirteen colonies came a declaration.

An idea that ordinary people could govern themselves. A belief that liberty was worth risking everything for.

From thirteen stars came courage. A Constitution. A Republic.

From those thirteen stars came a nation that has endured hardship, sacrifice, triumph, and change. A nation where freedom wasn’t something inherited—it was earned, protected, and passed forward. Generations of men and women willing to defend an idea greater than themselves. A nation that has never been perfect, but has always been striving.

This carving is not of an eagle at rest on a branch or perched upon a shield. It is rising.

It is taking flight, lifting the flag of our nation’s beginning and carrying it upward—a symbol that our country, despite its trials and differences, continues to rise and soar. It is a reminder that our history isn’t something left behind, but something we carry with us.

Because the story of America has never been about standing still. It has always been about reaching toward something greater.

Two hundred and fifty years have passed since thirteen colonies became thirteen stars on the first flag to fly over a new nation.

As America marks its 250th anniversary, perhaps the greatest question isn’t what came from thirteen stars…

Perhaps it’s what will come from them next.
