The Alice jewelry box is FINALLY on the shelf in the shoppe!! Wait until you see the next 6 pieces coming up in the Alice theme, from a sculpted lamp, tissue boxes, an even more elaborate jewelry box…. Steve of “Art From Empties” crafts stunning fused glass and enamel pieces from discarded materials, embodying the very spirit of creative reuse. Steve’s innovative approach resonates deeply with our mission at Elpis Art Studio: to inspire sustainable art practices through reuse, recycling, and repurposing. A heads up for both the consumers (artists/crafters) and small shops who sell art and crafting supplies.

At the end of June, Notions marketing had a massive and catastrophic fire that destroyed its warehouse when the power was being restored after an outage. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Notions is the distributor for thousands of online and independent brick & mortar supply stores. It affects the following major artists/crafters brands:

American Crafts, Time Holtz, We R Makers, Bazzill, Bo Bunny, Colorbok, Crate Paper, DCWV, Pebbles, Sticko, Tonic Studios, Craft Perfect, Nuvo, CousinDIY, Jolee's, K&Company, Inkadinkado, and Sticky Thumb.

Unfortunately, replenishment pipelines are frozen. The company has completely halted operations and order processing for an extended period to assess ruined inventory and clean the facility. Retailers have reported that the hub could be out of commission for up to six months.

For several Elpis artists & craftsman’s like myself, this will drastically affect our ability to produce our art. It will also affect the stock of smaller stores that sell supplies because they do not buy direct from manufacturers.

To understand better, it has to do with volume of products required to purchase vs. what a small store can afford to buy and stock. Box stores can afford to buy direct and in much higher volume because they have their own warehouses. However, this WILL affect many of the larger stores with web stores as Notions handles the purchase and shipping.
