Share Your Story: Veterans History Project
The Library of Hattiesburg, Petal, and Forrest County is honored to serve as a host site for the Veterans History Project, an initiative of the Library of Congress supported in Mississippi by the Mississippi Library Commission.
The Veterans History Project preserves the firsthand stories of U.S. military veterans who have served our country from World War I to the present. These personal accounts become part of the permanent collection at the Library of Congress, ensuring that future generations can learn directly from those who served.
Although more than 182,000 veterans call Mississippi home, only a little over 500 Mississippi veterans are currently represented in the Library of Congress collection. We invite local veterans to help preserve our state's military history by sharing their experiences.
