Ghost Story at The 204 Theater in Harwich

A Sonically Immersive, Spine Tingling Theatrical Event, Designed and Directed by Tristan DiVincenzo

This Halloween season, audiences at the 204 Theater will be beckoned into a realm of shadows, whispers, and fractured realities as director Tristan DiVincenzo unveils Ghost Story, a daring new theatrical adaptation of Henry James’s The Turn of the Screw. Presented with dynamic sound, haunting design, and eye-popping projections, this performance promises a psycho-horror experience unlike anything seen on Cape Cod stages.

Ghost Story is not a conventional haunted tale, but a living fever dream, an electrifying collision of literature, movement, and sonic architecture. With its immersive soundscape delivered through high-definition acoustics and visceral audio design, the production channels the disorienting atmosphere of contemporary psychological horror and classic science fiction cinema.

The Story

At its core, James’s timeless novella explores the fragile borders between perception and madness. A young governess is charged with caring for two orphaned children in an isolated country estate. But as spectral figures materialize from the shadows, she is pulled into a spiraling battle of wills, protecting the children from forces she cannot name, or perhaps from her own unraveling mind. Is this a haunting from beyond the grave, or the echo of a fractured psyche? Ghost Story revels in that tension, forcing the audience to ask: what is real, and what is nightmare?

The Experience

Director Designer Tristan DiVincenzo’s movement-based staging infuses the production with relentless physicality, bodies shift like apparitions, choreography folds into a language of paranoia and desire. Explosive bursts of color, flickers of light, and disorienting shadows immerse the audience in an atmosphere of hallucinatory dread. Paired with a high definition projection design that fragments space and time, which bends perception, Ghost Story pushes theatrical boundaries into the realm of a psycho/horror spectacular.
