Our friends over at BLUE CIELO FARMS - Vineyards & Winery are having their Harvest Festival on October 6th! Just a 25 minute drive from downtown Hartwell, their beautiful property will be filled with artisan vendors, including quite a few of our favorites that you will recognize from past Hartwell Makers Festival events, and many others as well. There will also be kids activities, wine tasting, food trucks and live music all day! Head over to their page and see the vendors they have featured so far, and give them a follow so you don’t miss all the vendor spotlights to come. Mark your calendars and make plans to attend as they celebrate their harvest with the community!!

Last Friday we were so excited to present the Hart County Food Pantry with a check for $6,037 from the 2024 Hartwell Makers Festival! We love the event we have created to help connect artists with our community- we love introducing art lovers to dozens of incredibly talented artists and makers, we love introducing new vendors and attendees to our beautiful downtown, and we love being able to raise funds and awareness for this amazing organization!
Thank you to all the artists, sponsors, and volunteers who made this event, and this gift, possible!!

Of all the ways we have worked to build the Hartwell Makers Festival, from growing our attendance and attracting amazing artists, to garnering the support of generous local sponsors, our event would never be the incredibly smooth, enjoyable, and experience it is without our incredible volunteer base! This year’s group of volunteers worked all day assisting with setup, selling raffle tickets, and helping vendors throughout the day, all while sporting our beautiful volunteer tshirts promoting our sponsors!

I’m running out of time to share all the things I want to say about the Hartwell Makers Festival, so I’m going to squeeze a lot into this post.
HMF was born from a shared passion for creating- I am an artist, and I understand the struggle to be understood, to connect with people who appreciate and value what you do (because, you know, it’s not a ‘real’ job). While we are passionate about nurturing and growing the already vibrant arts community in our town, we are also passionate about all facets of our community.
Our events are in the heart of our beautiful downtown. From where we will be located on Carolina St, you could literally throw a rock (please don’t try it) and hit numerous locally owned and operated restaurants and small businesses. So while you are in town for the festival, please also visit some of the local folks who are here every day making our small town the best in Georgia (again, literally- we have the award to prove it).
From art galleries to clothing boutiques, craft stores to a wine bar, axe throwing to a brewery, delicious food, home decor, an intimate music venue, a boutique hotel, our community theatre… please check out what makes Hartwell great!!

Meet the Maker :
Eva Gepner / Muertenation

Eva heard about the Hartwell Makers Festival from an artist friend who was part of HMF previously. She told Eva that she absolutely LOVED our event, that it was one of the highlights of her art that year. So Eva looked us up and is now traveling all the way from her small town outside of Birmingham, Alabama, so she can experience it herself!
“I make a hybrid of Mexican traditional folk and fantasy art (I was born in Mexico). I work with clay and terazzo materials to make "calaveras" or skulls in the Mexican tradition of decorating their dead, and canvas art of fantasy creatures I sculpt using materials like plaster, clays, and real animal bones. I will also have a small amount of art prints and sketches with some wearable art.”
Be sure to stop by and welcome Eva to Hartwell and check out the highly detailed, gorgeously intricate pieces she sculpts and paints!

Meet the Maker :
Kathy Fagan Smiley / Wolfe Den Beads

Kathy a full time lampwork artist from Clemson, SC. Lampwork is a technique of melting glass rods to create glass beads. She designs one of a kind jewelry with the beads and incorporates other semi-precious stones using intricate wiring and soldering skills as well.
“l am an artist who has a passion for creating unique and stunning pieces of wearable art. My journey with glass began in 2006 when I took a beginners class, and from that moment on, I knew that I had found my calling. The beauty and versatility of glass have captivated me ever since, and I have dedicated my life to mastering this art form. In 2007, I took a leap of faith and began designing jewelry with the goal of creating one-of-a-kind pieces that are both affordable and stylish. With every creation, I aim to capture the essence of beauty and individuality, and I take great pride in the joy that my art brings to my customers.”
Don’t miss the incredible talent that will be at the Hartwell Makers Festival! We are the area’s finest juried artisan event, dedicated to celebrating some of the region’s most talented artists and preserving the generational processes and craftsmanship of fine handmade products. Saturday, April 27, from 10am - 4pm on S. Carolina Street in beautiful downtown Hartwell!
