Let us amaze you with our ingenuity to put a big show in our intimate 82-seat black box venue - from thrilling musicals, gripping dramas, and hilarious farces and comedies. We present 18-22 shows per season and pride ourselves in welcoming each guest with that little extra dose of Midwestern hospitality. We are located in Wisconsin's beautiful Lake Country just off of Hwy 16 on Capitol Drive in Hartland.

Meet the cast of LCP’s Summer Staged Reading of THE BIRD CAGE by Arthur Laurents! Witness this story of loyalty and betrayal THIS WEEKEND ONLY!

Barbara Stigler - Narrator
Barbara Stigler is happy to be part of the LCP staged readings. Previously, she played the Sheriff in Trip to Bountiful and Rennie Waltzer in Chasing Manet, here at LCP. Variety is truly the “spice of life”.

Elizabeth Havican - Pearl/Renie Renay
Elizabeth M. Havican (Pearl/Renie Renay) - is a regular performer throughout the Greater Milwaukee Area. Elizabeth lives in West Allis with her husband, Patrick, and their two cats - Proposition Jo and Windom Earle.

Kathryn Steib - Emily Williams
Kathryn Steib is happy to be here! Most recently, she played Katherine in LCP’s 33 Variations (Staged Reading). Thank you for supporting the arts! Love to my family.

Paula Nordwig - Mr. Ripley/Mr. Mack
Paula Nordwig is grateful for another opportunity to be on stage. Past performances at LCP include A Christmas Story (Mrs. Shields), and Our Town (Mrs. Gibbs). Special thanks to my family for always supporting the way I’ve chosen to spend my retirement.

Karisa Perik - India Grey
Karisa Perik is excited to be part of her first staged reading! She debuted at LCP with Anastasia (Marfa / Ensemble) last fall, and looks forward to continuing the journey.

🎭 LCP's staged reading of THE BIRD CAGE by Arthur Laurents is just around the corner! Before we open this week, read this interview with the director, Elena Donley!

What has been your favorite part of working on this reading?
~ My favorite part of this reading has been getting to work with all the talented actors! We have a wonderful group of people, some who are new to me, some who are new to the Playhouse, and some who are new to acting all together! This is my first time directing a staged reading and it’s been a great experience working through the text with them.

What makes this play special for you?
~ This play is special to me because it is a really clear snapshot of American history. It is very ‘of the time’, both in the setting and characters, but also in the way that it is written and the nature of the dialogue. It was written by highly accomplished writer and director, Arthur Laurents, (who is better known for his work like West Side Story and Gypsy) and I think this piece is a little overlooked in his greater body of work.

What do you enjoy about working with Lake Country Playhouse?
~ I really enjoy working with Lake Country Playhouse because of the tight knit community. They have really become a cultural staple of Hartland, and it’s always a great experience collaborating with the team to create something for their stage!

Anything else you’d like to add?
~ I hope you come out to support The Bird Cage as well as our other staged readings this summer: Now and Then and Lombardi. Staged readings are a really great way to experience theater in a new and unique way, and to help support your local theaters like LCP continue to produce amazing programming!
