My name is Joy Monroe, and my life is a testimony of God’s grace, faithfulness, and unconditional love.
From a young age, I believed that God had a purpose for my life, even when I couldn’t see the path ahead. My faith became the foundation that carried me through every trial, every setback, and every victory.
I became a mother at a young age, raising four beautiful children—two daughters and two sons. It wasn’t easy. There were many days of sacrifice, uncertainty, and struggle, but I trusted that God would provide a way. My children became my greatest blessing and my reason to keep moving forward.
Then came one of the greatest challenges of my life—breast cancer. Today, by the grace of God, I am an 18-year breast cancer survivor. There were moments when I felt weak, but God gave me strength. There were moments when I was afraid, but God gave me peace. My survival is a reminder that God is still in the business of miracles.
God also placed a gift inside of me—art. Art became my ministry, my healing, and my testimony. Through every painting, body art creation, mural, and production, I strive to tell stories that inspire hope, healing, and transformation. I believe every gift God gives us is meant to bless someone else.
Today, I am a woman of faith, an artist, a storyteller, a mentor, a mother of four, a proud grandmother of thirteen, and a great-grandmother of one. As the founder of Joy of Life Art Creation, my mission is to use the talents God has entrusted to me to uplift my community, encourage others, and remind people that beauty can come from broken places.
Life has taught me that faith doesn’t mean you won’t face storms—it means you know who is with you in the middle of them. Every obstacle I’ve overcome has strengthened my relationship with God and deepened my purpose.
I am not where I am today because I did everything right. I am here because God never gave up on me. His grace sustained me, His love carried me, and His purpose continues to guide me.
