What’s been a common narrative to my work, but so evident from reactions to this show is the “replay value.” One of the highest compliments I hold to heart is when people say, “I’ve seen this piece before, but when seeing it again, I find something new and ask myself, ‘how’d I miss that?’” Others often express being drawn to work over and over again so they can decode what I may be thinking or what they may be thinking! It’s this constant visual conversation with your past, present, and directional implications of your future that takes place. That’s what I personally value most when studying art so it’s vital to keep that in my own work. Like I always preface - I’m a Hip-Hop Head! This reaction is akin to hearing a fire verse, song or album, then listening on the playback discovering something new. The canvas is filled with so much intention, there’s not an area left untouched… unless on purpose like in “Train of Thought” where there’s an abyss contrasting the busy left side.

The silent auction is extended for those interested as we had such an in depth conversation, it was hard to sneak in reminders of the auction at hand. Feel free to bid and contribute by following the link below. There’s also one day left to see “Revolutionary [RE] Imagining” on Wednesday, November 26th before it comes down.

📖🗣️💡“The greatest threat to success is not failure, but boredom. We get bored with habits because they stop delighting us. The outcome becomes expected. And as our habits become ordinary, we start derailing our progress to seek novelty. Perhaps this is why we get caught up in a never-ending cycle, jumping from one workout to the next, one diet to the next, one business idea to the next. As soon as we experience the slightest dip in motivation, we begin seeking a new strategy—even if the old one was still working. As Machiavelli noted, ‘Men desire novelty to such an extent that those who are doing well wish for a change as much as those who are doing badly.’”
