This weekend, Real Art Ways' Eye on Video high school apprentices will be busy bringing their stories to life.

After six weeks of watching films, discussing themes, plot, and character development, learning lighting techniques, getting familiar with equipment, and exchanging feedback on their scripts, they'll produce short films and assemble rough cuts to prepare for screening their projects on the big screen.

Many thanks to Sophie Morganstern, Hailey Madramootoo, TJ Noel-Sullivan, Eitan Ehrlich, and assistant teaching artists from The Hartford Film Company for guiding the students on their creative journeys.

The summer showcase is among our staff's favorite events each year. Save the date - we hope you'll join us!

If you're a Connecticut artist with a new, experimental, collaborative, engaging visual art project you want to bring to life, Real Art Ways' inaugural regional grant - the Provision Fund, backed by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts - is the opportunity for you.

Real Art Ways will award $10,000 to six Connecticut artists through a juried open call process. It's free for artists to apply - the deadline is 11:59 pm on September 20, 2026.

You can now find Real Art Ways' new Provision Fund on The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts website, alongside 40 other regional regranting programs via Southern Exposure Gallery, The Peale, Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA), SPACE Gallery, Public Space One (PS1), Northwest Film Forum, CultureSource, 3Arts, Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Asian Arts Initiative and more!

We will be hosting a Zoom info session for Connecticut-based artists next Monday, July 27, from 5:00-6:00 pm ET.
