Marking the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, the Trinity College Chapter of the Temple of Hip Hop, in collaboration with Sageseeker Productions, presents Living Declarations. Through photographic collages, this exhibition traces nearly twenty years of global hip hop culture in Hartford through the annual Trinity International Hip Hop Festival.
Guided by the Temple of Hip Hop’s 2001 Declaration of Peace, this exhibition invites viewers to imagine freedom not as a completed chapter of history, but as something lived and continually redefined. Pulled from the festival’s digital collection of photographs taken by both professionals and nonprofessionals, the collages celebrate the history of the festival in the City of Hartford by exploring themes such as Youth and Legacy, Education and Knowledge Sharing, Women’s Representation, Leadership and Organizing, and the enduring spirit of Revolution to reveal how global hip hop in Hartford continues to carry forward living declarations of creativity, resistance, and collective possibility.
