Something I've been wanting to make a little design of since seeing a lot of great weather and landscapes recently. The tree is actually based on the large white oak on the Charlottesville airport property (it's where I proposed to my fiance by the way. I won't stop bragging about that)
I wanted to make a design that radically exaggerates its size sort of like a caricature. I was recently inspired also by the book called "The Man Whom the Trees Loved" where a painter specializes in capturing the personality of trees. It's not immediately apparent how big the tree is without any parallax motion, but if you look closely and compare the side of the trees on the horizon you realize how massive it would be at that distance. It's interesting trying to convey that distance in such a small design.
