I have been working on some really fun projects lately thanks to you all! Most of them are still under wraps, so until I can share them, I wanted to show a few things that were released while I was on an Instagram hiatus 🤓

This single artwork is for a tune that & released earlier this year. I had the best time making this celestial piece to accompany ‘LUNA’ 🌕✨

This was my entry for The Mark-It's First Annual Koozie Show in 2018. It’s happening again this year (can’t wait) and I highly recommend entering a piece. It’s the best way to get your art to hug a can and hang on a gallery wall all on the same night! Submissions are due August 16th! More info at themarkithva.com/koozieshow

I recently had the honor of creating a logo for Bugle Call Coffee, coming soon to New Kent, VA. ☕️ My own bro is their roaster and it’s been a blast learning from him about the coffee roasting process.

This Friday, 5/3 I’ll be sharing a collection of poetry along with accompanying photocollages and paintings at The Mark-It in downtown Harrisonburg. I will have poem booklets available along with some art prints at the shop all month. But stop by Friday from 5-8pm to say hey and enjoy light refreshments! Valerie Bess | Design

Photography was my first artistic love. I spent hours in the woods shooting thousands of photos, enlivened by the feeling of connection with my surroundings and the ability to frame them into works of art that would serve as vehicles for my perspective.

As I've learned to use other mediums and integrated them into my endeavors and workplaces, I am still captivated by the power art has to communicate who we are and how we see the world. Design is everywhere, and it is vitally important to the articulation of things like proprietary ideas, small business branding, bodies of musical work, and public information. I consider it an honor to collaboratively create beautiful and clear design alongside people who hope to share something with others, in whatever form that may be.

Currently you'll find me working as a graphic designer at a trade show display company in Harrisonburg, VA in addition to serving design clients on a regular basis both locally and remotely. I love living in this beautiful, vibrant city with my husband Taylor and our sweet puppy Sage. Now that's enough about me! I'd love to meet and talk design (or just life) over a brewed beverage of some sort sometime.
