Mafia Haunted Trail

Mafia Haunted Trail Michigan's only Mafia-themed haunt - in Harrison on east end of Mostetler Road. Watch for zombies every Fri/Sat until Nov 1, from 8-midnight. The rumors grew.

Join us on Sat afternoons in Oct (12-5 pm) for Belle's Pumpkin Party. Tickets available at mafiatrail.com It was 1890 and William Mosteller had big dreams of establishing a town in the middle of the growing state of Michigan. He hoped to attract people by building a sawmill on his property, but the town seemed doomed from the start. Big city people don’t feel safe in the country. Months later, Wil

liam’s business partner found him in his bedroom with a gunshot to the head. He was buried behind the pond where forest creatures run free and the trees sway in the wind. With no next of kin, the state finally allowed the land to be purchased in 1930 by a man from Dayton, Ohio. The locals were curious about the mysterious men constantly racing down the dirt road in their fleet of snazzy Cadillacs. Cinder block buildings were built around William’s pond by these burly men with their shirt sleeves rolled up, wearing their signature fedoras. A huge iron gate and blockade walls were installed to surround the property, keeping prying neighbors away. Everyone believed that the mafia had moved into town. Hearing continual gunfire in the evenings, people were convinced that these men were murdering kidnapped victims. The pond was definitely full of dead bodies. A distillery must be hidden in the woods. Millions of dollars were buried around William’s grave. No one knew the truth. The local police kept an eye on the place, but not so close. The mystery remained for decades. As we recently unraveled the past, hidden remnants from horrifying crimes of old were revealed. Roughly created escape tunnels between the buildings were discovered. Will we ever truly know the crimes committed here? Beware as you travel through these woods. When darkness falls, what once was buried is no longer hidden. The undead have been released and won’t be contained. Screams fill the air as nightmarish endings are being reborn. The tortured will not rest until they get revenge. Watch your back. They want you dead.

I wanted to take a moment now that everything has settled down after the chaos that was our first season is over. When I started out to build a new attraction in mid-Michigan, I had no idea of the people that I would meet along the way or the enjoyment our patrons would have. I can honestly say that I was very concerned that what we put together would not be enough, or entertaining, or well-received. That being said the result filled my heart - over 1500 total visitors and ending the season with 5.0 rating on all review platforms.

I cannot thank those that helped enough. All of the actors had pure passion and professionalism. Every single one of them was crucial to the success we had. I would like to point out that I can honestly say we would not have had the success we did without certain key people. Lorie, Dirk, Sami, Rob, Twila, and Dan, your help was especially important. Lorie and Dirk built out and decorated the maze so many of you mentioned as the best part. Lorie even used her own props in most of the maze. Sami was our makeup artist and tickytocky girl. Rob spent the week running up to opening with me making sure we were as ready as we could be. Twila is the one behind all of the marketing and spreading the word. Dan (The Fixer) kept things running all season long. Additionally, Lorie, Rob, and Sami were instrumental in bringing the best talent to us. To everyone that was involved in making this such a big success you have my eternal gratitude.

As for the future, this season solidified my commitment keep this attraction as an annual event for years to come. Every year we will be adding to the experience. A major factor in our success was our unique approach to be themed and tie to the history of our family property. We will continue that theme for everything we bring to you in the future dedicating the first portion of the trail to the mafia zombie theme and the second portion and hay cart ride to the ghost town of Mostetler and abandoned rail beds.

All of us at Mafia Haunted Trail are excited to see everyone again along with new friends next year.
