Consulting calls have been super busy these last couple weeks and I have really enjoyed talking to everyone.
MANY people have told me, while needing help to up their marketing and social media game, that they really have a hard time talking about themselves, or posting worrying about other people’s opinions, or even what local people in their area will say about it.
In a call the other night I told her to “post anyway.” Remember, many times when people criticize, it’s because you are shining a mirror back at them, and reminding them that they were too scared to chase their dreams. They see all the things you are doing, but aren’t always willing to put in the work and sacrifice tog get there.
Often, what you say is exactly what someone needed to hear to keep going.
I hear all the time, “must be nice.” “You’re so lucky.”
Phrases meant to guilt and shame, instead of celebrating the work you put in.
Your response should be: “Yes, it is nice, and it would be nice for you too if you stop saying that and improve your life.”
In a world where social media is free exposure, you should take every advantage you can to promote your business. Adios is the PERFECT example of what can be accomplished with social media marketing. He has fans in many disciplines and I am the most honored when others give him compliments because I know how hard it is for them to compliment a barrel racer. 🤣
So share whatever you want. Social media can be your alter ego. Remember who YOUR target audience is and use your platform to share your version, your business, your thoughts. Remember not everyone is going to see everything you post. People are attracted to authenticity, and not every post needs to be puppies and unicorns to gain a following. People do want to see real life.
Be PROUD of what you’re accomplishing. Cheer for everyone. If you feel that little twitch of envy… check yourself. ✔️ Make yourself say a kind comment anyway. Your time is coming, keep your head down, make smart decisions and don’t go digging up seeds you’ve planted.
