This weekend at Whitaker is bittersweet... Fig, the sloth, and his fantastic rainforest friends are leaving the Gloria M. Olewine Gallery on Monday, August 31st! That means this could be your last chance to see a sloth, giggle with a gecko, or touch a tortoise at Whitaker!

The exhibit will close at 5 PM on Monday.

Summer camps have officially ended at Whitaker Center, and we are already missing the sound of endless wonder, big questions, dancing feet, and brave voices on the theater stage. 💛

This summer, we watched campers build, test, sing, code, create, perform, problem-solve, and try again. We watched them discover that they can do hard things. We watched confidence grow in real time.

That is the magic of camp.

It's so much more than a week of activities. It is where kids learn the foundations of innovation, where creativity feels safe, where curiosity gets louder, and where learning becomes something they can carry with them long after summer ends.

To every camper, caregiver, performance director, educator, counselor, and staff member who helped make this summer so special: thank you.

The building feels a little quieter now, but this summer's impact is still echoing through every hallway. ✨

Big news we're proud to share: our President & CEO has been named to the 2026 Central Penn Business Journal's !

Leadership like Mary's doesn't just run an organization - it shapes a region. Under her vision, Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts has become more than a building downtown. It's a driver of foot traffic, tourism, and economic activity in Harrisburg. It's the reason thousands of students get hands-on with science instead of just reading about it. It's a stage for artists and a gathering place for a community that keeps choosing to invest in itself.

That's what strong leadership does for a region. It turns culture into momentum. It turns curiosity into economic development. It turns one organization's growth into a rising tide for the whole community.
