Last night, our Come From Away cast was deeply honored to welcome Reverend Chris Kapp to rehearsal for an evening we will never forget.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, with family roots in Newfoundland, Chris shared her deeply personal connection to 9/11, Gander, and the healing power of this story. On September 11, 2001, she was just a 21-year-old seminary student in New York City with the Salvation Army. After being trapped in a mobile kitchen rig when World Trade Center Building 7 collapsed, she continued to serve on the front lines at Ground Zero.

The trauma changed her life forever—she initially felt she couldn't continue in ministry, but witnessing the tragic loss of unhoused individuals at Ground Zero sparked a new calling. For the past 25 years, Rev. Chris has dedicated her life to advocating for the unhoused community. Today, she serves as a Community Minister with the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Cumberland Valley in Boiling Springs, leading initiatives like the Emergency Food Pantry, the Homeless Memorial Blanket Project, and an upcoming Homeless Memorial Art Installation at Ground Zero on December 21, 2026.

FUN FACT: Ozzy is either supervising at Starbucks or Gather Your Party Games when he is not buying magic cards or attempting to get some rest!
