It is with gratitude to everyone and everything to announce the Unlikely Wonders Theatre Project has come to an end. As our name implies, this venture was never meant to occur in perpetuity, but rather, to provide a series of theatrical experiences for audiences who are typically ignored by theatre companies, and to provide those experiences in places where one wouldn’t typically expect to see a live performance.
While we may not have been as prolific as we initially intended, we were able to have a small and meaningful impact for our audiences. During our time we toured "My Name is Rachel Corrie" to numerous parks throughout Central Pennsylvania, successfully implemented our Community Aid Initiative during which many of you donated vital resources to local shelters, and provided free performances of "P**f!" by Lynn Nottage to unhoused survivors of domestic violence at Downtown Daily Bread. Free for everyone, as always.
None of our efforts would have been possible without the enthusiastic and unwavering support of The Belong Collective.
Our goal has always been to be a service organization. We hope we were able to provide moments of escape, beauty, commiseration, reflection, and dignity for our audiences. Although this project has come to an end, rest assured, our efforts have not - particularly in a city where many in charge would much rather not hear or see their unhoused neighbors, let alone treat those neighbors with basic dignity. We will keep going in other ways.
Thank you to everyone who aided in our mission.
Take care of each other.
