I really love the texture of this basket, and the way that the metallic shine of the bare clay really enhances the surface. I'm itching to make more sculptural pieces this year so I can play with some new (and old) texture techniques.

Handle or no handle, which do you prefer? People seem to like cups with handles more than cups without handles, so I'm always running out of mugs and not yunomi-style cups. Let me know in the comments which one you prefer!

Tokkuri and sake cups in Brown Bear clay and Raspberry mist.

The center sake cup is based on traditional sakazuki with an elevated foot, the tokkuri and other cup are my own design.

I'm finally getting around to editing the pictures I took of my work from my show in June. Unfortunately I'm not that good of a photographer and there's only so much you can do with editing software to fix things, but it's better done than perfect and all that.

It feels good to be back in the studio, and I was finally able to throw a pound and a half of clay for the first time since I injured myself. I'm definitely not back to where I was 6 months ago but it's a relief to have made it this far in my recovery. I'm still not where I wanted to be for my show in July, but fingers crossed I'll be able to have new work by then.

Another shotglass, this glaze ( Sandstone at cone 10) is rather problematic as you can see but but there were no casualties! The drip didn't touch the shelf at all and it looks very cool, and the inside turned a lovely blue color.

I'm currently working on more shotglasses and also just work in general, with the injury it's slow going but I should have more new work soon🤞🏼

Small sauce (or candy) dishes, one of my first attempts to make sets of things last year. If there's one thing I struggle with with pottery, it's makeing sets of things that look similar. I love making new shapes, and going with the flow when I'm throwing, so forcing myself to be consistent is something I've been working on lately. It's not my end goal to make identical dishware sets though, as I am a fan of a "similar but different" aesthetic, but it's an excellent skill to have in my opinion.

Happy New Year everybody!

I finally got on the wheel for the first time since my injury, and managed to throw this lovely cup and 2 bowls that may or may not be kept, since my goal this year (besides healing of course) is to codify the things I make so that I can set reasonable expectations for my customers and supporters (no that still does not mean I'll be making identical sets, sorry mom).

I'll still be working on pushing my work into a style I find acceptable- with both forms and textures- as long as I'm not pushing myself too much either, so that's something to keep an eye out for as well.

That's it for my New Years "intentions", I hope you all stick around and thanks for your support for the past year(s)!
