Animal Adventure is a Zoological Association of America (Z

AA) accredited interactive educational animal park, nestled in the hills of Harpursville, NY, just 15 minutes outside of Binghamton. Our goal is to communicate an appreciation for living things through the use of the human senses; allowing our guests to get up close and hands on with our animal ambassadors. Home to over 100 species! The unique experience of hand feeding 100s of animals. Being neck and neck with our giraffes, spotting an emerging kangaroo or rubbing elbows with our antelope, engages and educates guests of all ages. Through understanding and appreciation, we achieve education! Education leads to preservation and conservation! Many schools and organizations have joined us for group visits, as a source of educational entertainment! Visit our site to learn more about groups and group rates! We are accredited by the Zoological Association of America (ZAA), the first in New York State! We are Federally licensed by the USDA; ensuring that our animals, their care, and facilities meet the same standards of zoos and aquariums in the US. Mark your calendar, our final Park After Dark: Family Fun Night of the season takes place on Saturday September 19th from 5:30-8:00pm!

-Beer Tree Brew Co will be on hand with the drinks
-Travis Rocco has the tunes covered
-Some of your favorite area restaurants will be on hand with delicious eats
-And all of your Animal Adventure favorites will be on hand to get a little wild during a breathtaking 'golden hour' Fall sunset

Park After Dark is a family friendly event open to all ages (must be 21+ to drink), no advance tickets necessary, regular admission rates apply, FREE as always to our members!

Valley Dental Pediatrics Code Green: Spotted Hyena

Guests of Animal Adventure Park & Preserve may have been in for a rare treat when visiting this past week; the park’s spotted hyena pair, Zuri & Bonzai, welcomed a cub!

Animal Adventure Park & Preserve is one of only a few facilities in the United States successfully propagating the species.

Spotted hyenas have an average gestation period of 90-110 days, producing one to three cubs. Zuri welcomed one cub, without keeper intervention, through what is a wildly unique birthing process. (worth a google)

It will be some time before the s*x of the cub is known. DNA must be submitted for laboratory testing to determine the s*x, as spotted hyena are not s*xually dimorphic (cannot be determined by eye).

The propagation program has been rather successful over the years, with the pair having produced a total of nine cubs, with only one of the births being a pair of cubs.

Offspring are placed in institutions around the country that house unrelated genetics, in hopes of future success for the uncommonly exhibited species.

Did you know that each park is home to its own species of camel?

Our Dromedary camel caravan (known for their single hump resembling a “D”) is always on the prowl for fun (and treats) at the walk thru Park while our Bactrian camel (with dual humps mimicking a “B”) is posted up at the Preserve.
