Join me at Yarnability to learn mosaic knitting. This knitting technique is a great way to learn how to use two colors of yarn without the having to carry strands on the backside of your work. With the use of some slipped stitches mosaic knitting should be called magic knitting!

We are casting on the Murano Squares Bandana or Murano Squares Shawl by Susan Ashcroft of using spring and summer friendly fibers. My shop sample of the bandana used 1 skein of Remix Light and 2 skeins of Tango.

Choose your favorite combination of DK weight yarn (2 colors) for the bandana, your choice of weight for the shawl, and cast on!

Pattern: Murano Squares Bandana or Murano Squares

Yarn: DK Weight 2 colors for Bandana or 2 colors any weight for shawl – purchase at Yarnability for class

Needle: US 7 for cowl/ pair sized needle to yarn choice for shawl

Stitch Every Day in May

This fun annual community challenge is designed to support your love of fiber/yarn by encouraging participants to knit, crochet, or stitch for at least a few minutes daily.

This year, join me with Yarnability to stitch every day in May! The past 6 weeks have been challenging and I have gotten away from any time with my yarn. I always seem to find an excuse to not sit down to knit/crochet. I often put the “needs to be done” list well before the “sit down and take a break” moments. This challenge comes at just the right time for me, so I will be playing along with all of you!

The rules are simple:

Stitch every day in May.
Mark your progress on this tracker. It doesn’t have to be much–just a row, or even a stitch.
It doesn’t have to be the same project–you can bounce around.
You don’t have to finish anything.
Just nurture your habit. It’s a good one.
It’s the honor system. Be honorable.
Submit your completed tracker by 11:59pm on June 4, in person or email to [email protected]. On June 6 we will draw a winner from all completed entries. The prize? A $25-off discount coupon good at the store. Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a $5 discount coupon, good for one use, and it doesn’t expire. Stitch on, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

One last thing. In the spirit of keeping it simple, there’s no requirement that the yarn be purchased from Yarnability. But keep your LYS in your heart, okay?
