Delita Martin's work centres Black women — not as subjects to be observed, but as vessels of spiritual and historical memory. drawing, she constructs what she calls veilscapes: environments where the physical and spiritual exist in the same space.
She doesn't make portraits. She builds sites of remembrance.
"Black women have historically been marginalized and made small—physically and symbolically—so I work large to shift the power dynamics in the room."
