When people fail to deal with their problems, they either stuff their hurts deep inside where it causes a variety of physical symptoms, or they turn to s*x, drugs, or alcohol to fill the emptiness inside. When the 'high' of romance or addiction wears off, they move on to the next opportunity to find relief from painful memories or circumstances.

It's like filling the belly of a starving child with cotton candy—it tastes good for a moment, but the child will eventually die unless they are nourished with healthy food.

Our souls need nourishment just as much as our bodies. Deep soul wounds can only be healed by God's love and through the love of His people. He asks us to stop our random searching for things that fill us up for a moment, but leave us empty and wanting more in the end. He invites us to come to Him for everything our hearts need to be whole and satisfied.

I don't know what your life has been like, or how you have been defined by others because of the choices you've made. But I do know that you are loved and desired by the King of the universe, the LORD of all creation.

His invitation to you is not “Come, be good,” but with arms outstretched He says, “Come . . . be mine."
