Our musical theatre performance course wrapped up the spring term with a three-day dance intensive with guest artist Trina Jackson.

Trained in New York, she is a multi-faceted performer, dance teacher, choreographer, and clinician, with her work seen worldwide, including national tours, cruise ships, commercials, and even the Miss America pageant, where she competed as a former Miss New Mexico. She currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Oldham County Arts Center, leading the award-winning Oldham County Performance Troupe, and continues her own training in New York throughout the year. Thanks for joining us, Trina!

This opportunity was made possible through the Vincent C. Holmstrom Theatre Program Enhancement Fund. To learn how your generosity can help support Hanover's rich tradition of theatre, visit hanover.edu/give or contact the College's Office of Advancement.

Last night we headed to Cincinnati for our final professional production for the May term, the Tony Award-winning musical, SUFFS! Telling the true story of the women who fought to pass the 19th Amendment, it shines a light on the struggles they faced, not only with politicians but also with each other in their movement.

Like all of our productions this year, attending SUFFS was made possible through the Vincent C. Holmstrom Theatre Program Enhancement Fund and the Tom Evans Theatre Fund. To learn how your generosity can support experiences like this, visit hanover.edu/giving or contact the College's Office of Advancement.

Today marked a significant moment as Hanover College Theatre reestablished our chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, the National Theatre Honor Society. Formed over a century ago, Alpha Psi Omega (APO) honors and recognizes students’ dedication and contributions to the theatre arts, both on stage and in the classroom.

Hanover’s chapter, Alpha Eta Phi, has been dormant for several years. Today, Alpha Eta Phi was granted a recharter as recognition of our programs' exemplary work, and Creek Arthur, Colton Auxier, Xandra Ellegood, Sofia Flores, Cecila McBride, Evie Montgomery, and Lio Wilkerson were inducted into Alpha Psi Omega, honoring them for their personal contributions to Hanover College Theatre.

Congratulations to those honored — may you always “Seek a Life Useful”

Thanks to the Vincent Holmstrom Theatre Enhancement Fund and the Tom Evans Theatre Fund, our Musical Theatre Performance course squeezed in three professional productions over the last 36 hours.

We kicked off this "Musical Marathon" with Hairspray at Derby Dinner Playhouse. This high-energy and sold-out production proves why Derby Dinner Playhouse has been one of the most successful theatre companies in our region for over fifty years. After the performance, we were treated to a backstage tour, before a wonderful talk-back with some of the cast. Thanks for taking the time to share your wisdom and some laughs with us, Jim, Cary, and Sy!

After Hairspray, we buzzed across the bridge to Louisville and caught the national tour of The Book of Mormon. Now in its 15th year on Broadway, it's one of the longest-running and highest-grossing musicals in history.

After a little rest, we headed to the Indiana Repertory Theatre for Come from Away. This incredible ensemble musical brings the days following September 11 to life, as a small Canadian town opens its homes and hearts to 7,000 stranded passengers from around the world.

Hanover Theatre thanks those who continually support the Holmstrom and Evans Funds. Because of their generosity, our theatre courses have been able to attend eleven professional productions this academic year. To learn how your support can provide experiences like this for our students, visit hanover.edu/giving or contact the College's Office of Advancement!
