Minnesota Friends:

Greetings from Hannibal, Missouri!

I’m under contract with The Park Theater Company (St. Louis Park’s Community Theater) to direct my old pal Phil Hall’s “The President and the Space Lady”, a seriously silly salute to ‘60s sitcoms (Think “I Dream of Jeannie”, “My Favorite Martian”, “Bewitched”.)

I’m actively seeking a team of performing and scenic artists to put this labor of love on its feet the first weekend in July at the Phoenix Theater in Minneapolis.

The Story:
When the POTUS is incapacitated by a freak cowboy cosplay mishap, the hapless ex-astronaut VP is whisked back from exile to take the POTUS' place ... temporarily ... maybe. But the order of presidential succession is challenged when a mysterious visitor suddenly arrives in the Oval Office that only the VP can see and hear, and now the Speaker of the House is standing by ... just in case.

The Characters:
Egbok “E.T.” W***y, hapless VP (M 40 & up)

Captain Marshall Meeker, brilliant & timid cybersecurity specialist (M 25 & up)

General Clark Mensa, imperious White House Chief of Staff (M 50 & up) (PRECAST)

The Space Cadet, unexpected visitor (F 18 & up)

Holly “Dolly” Madison Killjoy, politically ambitious Speaker of the House (F 40 & up)

The Rehearsals:
May 26-29 over Zoom (dates & times TBD)
June 3 - 27: 3 alternating weekday eves 6:30-9:30 and Saturdays 1:30-4:30 (Phoenix rehearsal space)
Tech June 29-July 1 (Phoenix performance space)

The Performances:
WED, THU, FRI July 1, 2, & 3 at 7 pm
SAT & SUN July 4 & 5 at 2 pm in the Phoenix performance space

The pay: $500 stipend

In addition to casting the four roles above, we’re also looking for a set designer/stage carpenter, and a lighting designer/electrician

Those of you with long memories may recall that, in addition to acting in the TCs from 1991 - 2013, I was Producing Director at the Jon Hassler Theater in Plainview from 2001 - 2007. Down here in Hannibal, I direct shows for Bluff City Theater, Muddy River Radio, and our own Studio 57 Productions.

While everyone is starting to get ready for the holiday season, we’re not ready to deck the halls at Bluff City Theater quite yet. In collaboration with The Arts Asylum, a Kansas City-based theatre company, we’re bringing one more monster story to Hannibal before putting up our Christmas tree. Now I know some of you familiar with will wonder, "If this is a two-hander, who's the third wheel in the NYC shirt?"

Well, that third wheel is Randon Lane, our stellar music director/one man orchestra. He is at least an equal player in our production. He NEVER stops playing, even when the singers aren't singing, and he's even got a little acting bit in the Audition Sequence.

I hope you'll find the time (a little over an hour and a half, with intermission) to experience this intimate chamber musical. I'm extremely proud of it.

This guy. It's been around seven years since we last worked together, and it's like we never parted. His great love for this show shines through in every note sung, every word spoken, every gesture. I'm a huge fan.

Bluff City Theater in Hannibal, Missouri, is seeking a director for LaDarrion Williams' play BOULEVARD OF BOLD DREAMS.

Rehearsal Dates: May 19-June 4, 2025
Performance Dates: June 5-14, 2025

We are open to either full rehearsal in Hannibal or or a Zoom/in person hybrid. Salary and housing provided

Synopsis: It is February 29, 1940, the night of the Academy Awards in Hollywood, California.

Bartender Arthur Brooks, an ambitious Black man from rural Alabama, dreams of becoming a movie director. His best friend Dottie Hudson, a maid at the Ambassador Hotel, is a cynic when it comes to dreams.

When the actress Hattie McDaniel stops in at the bar after having decided not to attend the biggest event in show business, Arthur and Dottie do everything in their power to convince her to claim her historic win, while confronting their own dark pasts and making their own dreams come to life.
