Regretfully, I must cancel Balagard for this year. Circumstances prevent us from moving forward at this time, but we hope to host this event again in the future! Until then, Friends!

Thank you everyone for making Balagard awesome!! The rain (mostly) held off, and I was very grateful for the big, enthusiastic crowd that came out to see us!

I'll continue posting here for a while to facilitate any discussion. Please feel free to send your pictures of the event (as long as you don't mind them being used by us for promotional purposes)

As it stands presently, this event is envisioned as an every-other year event, but we will be holding other activities in the meanwhile (for instance, weekly fighter training has been ongoing for a while now) If you have interest in participating in future Balagard festivals or joining us in other events and activities that we will be holding, please get in touch.

Balagard is Saturday! The site is being prepped! The vikings are on their way!

The day schedule may be adjusted somewhat to account for the weather:

Most craft activities, children’s activities, axe throwing, and merchants will be ongoing throughout the day. Certain activities are scheduled, as follows-

9:00am Site opens: (set up for crafts etc.)
10:00am- Storytelling with Adrian Spendlow
10:30am- Live steel fighting demonstration (introduction to arms and armor)
11:30am- Games with Telge Glima
1:00pm- Storytelling with Adrian Spendlow
1:30pm- Live steel fighting demonstration (judicial combat)
3:00pm- Games with Telge Glima
3:30pm- Live steel fighting demonstration (The trade dispute gets ugly)
4:00pm- Iron smelting complete! The bloom is harvested
4:30pm- Storytelling with Adrian Spendlow
5:00pm Event closes

Saturday's weather report is calling for afternoon rain. Have no fear! I'm developing a contingency plan, which will involve moving certain elements of the event indoors for the rain. Balagard will go on, rain or shine!

Daniel's amazing cookbook is on special offer for a limited time! Come to Balagard on Oct 5th to see him demonstrating viking-age traveler's fare. Learn about foodways and cooking methods, and see recipes being prepared. I highly recommend ordering a copy of his book to help you continue your study at home!

Here is a provisional schedule of the day's activities!
