There was no urgency back then.

No constant buzzing in your pocket.

No pressure to keep up with anything or anyone.

You could lie on the floor and let a song take as long as it needed.

You didn’t scroll past music.

You sat with it.

You listened all the way through, even when it hurt a little.

Especially when it hurt a little.

The world didn’t demand your attention every second.

It waited.

Music filled the space instead.

It slowed your breathing.

It gave your thoughts somewhere to land.

You didn’t feel behind.

You felt present.

The 70s weren’t perfect.

But they understood something we lost.

Life doesn’t always need to move faster.

Sometimes it needs to move deeper.

And sometimes all you needed was the floor, a record, and time to let the moment stretch.

What’s your favorite live album? I’m going with Live Bullet Bob Seger. It feels genuine, hard hitting, old school, emotional.
