🌟 Arts Recognition Award Announcement 🌟

SLC Arts is proud to announce Pamela Wi******er as the recipient of our 2026 Arts Recognition Award.

Pamela Wi******er has spent decades uplifting the North Country through her work as an educator, muralist, and passionate advocate for both art and nature. Many know her from her years teaching at Ogdensburg Free Academy, where she inspired generations of young artists through creative and ever-evolving classroom projects.

Beyond the classroom, Pam has dedicated her artistic talents to the community through public art, murals, barn quilts, and collaborative projects that celebrate our local history, landscapes, and traditions. Her work often brings people together—inviting community members of all ages to participate in creating art that reflects the beauty and spirit of the North Country.

From her Blue Goose Studio in Hammond, Pam continues to mentor artists, develop new work, and lead projects that connect art, nature, and community.

We are honored to celebrate Pamela Wi******er’s lifelong dedication to creativity, education, and community at the SLC Arts Gala on April 25, 2026.

Traditional Arts in Upstate New York (TAUNY) Seeks Culinary Artist:

TAUNY seeks a motivated, experienced culinary artist to work at The TAUNY Center’s Newberry Cafe in downtown Canton, NY. The part-time (20 hour) position will be responsible for helping to design and execute the new café’s menu.

The ideal candidate will be able to learn the current dishes served, contribute to the design of new menu items both for food and drink options, and work with local farms and culinary artists to develop foodways programs. The position will include work during normal café hours (10 a.m. – 2 p.m. M, W & F), food prep time, and at special events during the weekends (typically Saturday’s). An understanding of using various types of foods that serve diverse dietary needs of our customers with a focus on local foods and sustainability is a must.

The candidate needs to be energetic, organized, and detail oriented to ensure all top-quality standards both in the kitchen and with the Department of Health. An ability to communicate effectively is a must, and an interest working in a fast-paced, team driven environment with a willingness to adapt to procedures as the organization evolves and grows. The position has the potential to grow into a full-time role.
