We truly appreciate everyone’s outreach, support, and kind words over the past few days. It means a lot to our team.
We have been in contact with all individuals and guardians involved, and all information has been passed along to the appropriate authorities beyond the Recreation Department. Our staff has been feeling the impact of this incident this week which is understandable. We’re a very small department, and these major events are organized and set up by just a handful of us.
After much discussion, we’ve made the difficult decision not to put up any additional decorations for this event out of concern for further vandalism. Unfortunately, this was not the first time some of these individuals have caused damage in the community.
We also want to remind everyone especially our teens and young park visitors to make good choices and be respectful while enjoying town spaces. Beyond this particular situation, we’ve seen several other instances of damage and disruptive behavior in recent weeks. The park is for everyone to enjoy, and we ask that all who use it take pride in keeping it safe and welcoming.
The event will still go on, and we truly hope everyone can come out, enjoy the activities, and help make it a positive, fun experience for all. Thank you again to everyone who continues to support our staff and the work we do to bring the community together.
