COMING ATTRACTIONS: SPRING 2023

Miami University Regionals’ Theatre presents:

MIAMI WRITES PROGRAM FOR NEW PLAYS 2023—March 3
Miami Writes is a MUR Theatre new plays development program dedicated to the fostering and production of new plays by student and local playwrights. It began in 2004. Past productions have included works by Brandon Berning, a student playwright, whose play A Painted Life won second place in the 36th annual Great Lakes Region Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Since then playwrights who have received Miami Writes readings include Cincinnati/Dayton notable writers Ruth Britt, Roger Collins, Doug Decatur, Susan Decatur, Alan Jozwiak, Karen Right, and many more. Bridget Ossmann’s original musical Teachers Left Behind received two full MURT workshop productions. Another Miami Writes play, first workshop as a MW play, Purple Paint received a Cincinnati Playwrights’ Initiative reading at The Aronoff Theatre in Cincinnati. Alyson West’s MW winner, The Texan, became a national award-winning film.

“We all need more mayhem, wackiness, and mirth as we look at the human condition and revel in the absurdities, hypocrisies, & inadequacies we all are subject to on this all-too-short journey we call life.” ---Chuck Overburger, comedy god

Professor Bekka Eaton will be facilitating a free Improvisational Comedy Workshop this Thursday at 1 PM on the Miami University Regionals Hamilton campus. The workshop, which is part of the Arts and Humanities Festival, will help you learn the basic rules of improv.

Improvisational skills can help you become more open to new ideas, work more effectively in groups, and become more likely to react creatively to problem-solving. Most importantly, improv helps us have a boatload of fun!

We encourage you to RSVP to attend this free workshop. You can RSVP by visiting https://www.miamioh.edu/regionals/rsvp/
