The Miss Harambee Scholarship Pageant ("MHSP") recognizes and celebrates the academic and civic achievements, and artistic talents of young African American women, ages 9-18.

Originally founded in New Haven, Connecticut, in the early 1980s by the late John P. Thomas, Sr., mettle entertainment group in partnership with Fixing Fathers, Inc., a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, decided to reintroduce the Miss Harambee Scholarship Pageant to Connecticut residents. Thus, MHSP provides a platform for young African American women to be awarded for their work in the community and school, and their creativity.
