Usually, my birthday falls on Memorial Day, but this year for whatever reason it doesn’t — and it’s given me a moment to pause and really reflect with gratitude. Memorial Day is about honoring the brave men and women who served and sacrificed so we can enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted. I’m forever thankful for those who gave so much to make this the greatest country in the world.
I think about my own story and how lucky I am to call Miami home. My mom came from Paris, my dad from Panama, and somehow they met in Miami on a whim — all because my aunt needed help with her kids. One small decision changed the course of our entire family. That’s the beauty of America: people from different places, backgrounds, and dreams coming together to build a life.
There’s truly no place I’d rather be than Miami, USA. 🇺🇸
As I celebrate another upcoming birthday, I’m feeling especially grateful — for family, for opportunity, for freedom, and for all those who made it possible. you ,Florida
