Herdwick sheep are known for their unique double coat: a soft woolly underlayer for insulation and a durable, wiry outer layer that helps shed wind and rain.

While it is not a traditional choice for saddle pads like merino, it has become a favorite for many of our students at War Knot Wool who are looking beyond traditional wool options.

We offer Herdwick wool in its natural, undyed shades: light grey and dark grey. The light & dark herdwick are pictured here built into one of our most popular pad designs for customers to buy and students to recreate🐑
