Aloha everyone! 🌺

I don’t post very often, but I wanted to share something I haven’t done in quite a while!

As you can see in the video, I’m applying gesso to a 54” × 62.5” stretcher bar frame as part of preparing and finishing the wood for this project.

This is just the beginning, so stay tuned! I’ll be sharing the finished product once the gesso application is complete. 🎨🖼️

I'm proud to share this recent project with you, I presented several ideas for the client and ultimately developed a shadow box for their artwork. They were seeking a design that felt contemporary and timeless, so I incorporated these elements into the concept. The goal was to create a frame that not only displays the art but also tells the story of its significance to them. I selected foam core to mount the artwork, allowing it to float beautifully while also providing a backing that serves as the perfect visual ‘home’ for the frame. The white foam core adds depth to the presentation without drawing attention away from the artwork itself. I employed a preservation-style mounting process, ensuring the art can breathe while maintaining a polished and intentional appearance. Every component of the build is archival, allowing the piece to age gracefully. My client was delighted and loved the dimensional feel, stating that their art piece now "has its own little stage to shine on."

I wished to share this specific artwork...A customer approached me about a week and a half ago, wanting to fit a portrait of his wife into the frame featured in the picture... Undertaking this project proved challenging as I had to sand down the frame skillfully - swiftly yet cautiously - to ensure the picture nestled perfectly within it... It was a task that took several hours, punctuated with intermittent breaks…As you can see this customer has chosen a perfect frame for an astonishing painting of his wife!!!
