Hagerstown, we need your help.

We created this page specifically so we can keep the people of Hagerstown informed as we move through the recovery process following last weekโ€™s devastating flooding.

Please share this page. Share it with your friends. Share it with your family. Share it in Hagerstown community groups. Send it to your neighbors. Most importantly, please make sure the people who may not be on social media regularly know where they can find reliable information.

Our community was hit hard on Wednesday morning. Homes, businesses, school property, town property, crops, roadways and so much more were affected. We have learned that a few Hagerstown families (most just outside of town limits) has been displaced, and we know there are residents and businesses facing an incredibly difficult road ahead.

Here is some important information:

The Town is working to assess damage throughout Hagerstown so we can understand the true scope of what happened here.

If you have any damage, please report it to Indiana 211, regardless of how major or minor you believe it is.

๐Ÿ“ž Call 211
๐ŸŒ Visit on.in.gov/in-211

This information is extremely important as county, state and federal officials assess needs and determine what resources may be available.

And please remember:

๐ƒ๐Ž๐‚๐”๐Œ๐„๐๐“. ๐ƒ๐Ž๐‚๐”๐Œ๐„๐๐“. ๐ƒ๐Ž๐‚๐”๐Œ๐„๐๐“.

Take pictures and video of your property, damaged belongings, buildings, vehicles and anything else affected by the flooding. Continue documenting throughout the cleanup and recovery process.

We have dumpsters set up in the middle parking lot of Hagerstown High School. All debris must be separated by the following:

Normal household trash
Vegetative debris
Construction and demolition debris
Appliances
Electronics
Household hazardous waste

Before throwing away damaged items, photograph them first.

Those who live outside of town limits will need to dispose of their debris at the BestWay transfer station located at 20 Paul R Foulke Pkwy Hagerstown.

One of the needs we brought forward during regional incident meetings was access to laundry services.

Thanks to the tremendous generosity of Reid Health, a mobile laundry unit is coming to Hagerstown today. It will be located at the Tedco lot in the 400 block of South Washington Street.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who continues to step up for our community.

We will let everyone know when thatโ€™s ready!

The Golay Community Center in Cambridge City is offering free showers for anyone in need.

For residents who have been displaced and need somewhere to stay, the Kuhlman Center in Richmond is currently available as temporary housing.

The Red Cross is there and has case managers who can help connect displaced families with additional resources and work through individual needs.

We understand Richmond is not ideal for Hagerstown families, but if transportation or another barrier is keeping someone from accessing temporary housing, please donโ€™t assume there is no solution. Letโ€™s identify the barrier and see what resources may be available.

Our local businesses have been hit incredibly hard.

These arenโ€™t just buildings. They are our neighbors, friends and community gathering places. They employ people, sponsor events, support our organizations and have helped make Hagerstown what it is.

We need to know which businesses have been affected and what they need as recovery resources become available. Again, business owners need to report their damages and needs to 211.

We know other communities were hit even harder, and much of the attention and resources have understandably been focused on those areas.

But Hagerstown has a voice at the table.

We have been involved in incident meetings and have been bringing forward the needs of our residents and businesses. We have specifically raised issues including debris management and mobile laundry services, and we will continue advocating for Hagerstown as long-term recovery efforts begin to take shape.

There is still a tremendous amount of work ahead.

This recovery will not happen in a few days. Some families and businesses may be dealing with the effects of this flood for months or even years.

But Hagerstown has always been a community that takes care of its own.

Our police officers, firefighters, town employees, utility workers, businesses, churches, school employees, volunteers, neighbors and residents have all stepped up.

And we will continue to step up for one another.

This is perhaps the most important thing we can ask right now.

Please share this page with every Hagerstown resident, business owner, family member and friend you know.

Not everyone uses Facebook or has internet access, so please also check on your elderly neighbors and anyone who may not be receiving information online.

Call your neighbors. Stop by. Make sure they know where to get information and how to report their needs.

We are all hurting. We are all tired. We have a lot of work ahead of us.

But we are Hagerstown. And we will get through this together! ๐Ÿค

PLEASE SHARE.

Weโ€™re so proud of our town! Our community is truly the heart!!
Thank you!

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support for our small towns.

The past few days have been nonstop as weโ€™ve accepted and organized donations, identified needs, and worked to get supplies where theyโ€™re needed most all while continuing our regular operations. Our community has truly come together in an amazing way.

In the last 48 hours we served over 100 families through our pantry and assisted in an impromptu community lunch while everyone was still without power.

We are taking a short breather, but we are still here and committed to helping as recovery continues. ๐Ÿ˜…

Current needs for our organization are
Monetary donations (cash, check, or website link)
Cleaning & personal care items (cleaners, laundry supplies, diapers size 4+, wipes, toilet paper, oral care, dish soap, etc.)

๐Ÿ“ Donations can be dropped off anytime at the box outside our office:
37 E. Main St., Hagerstown

We are so proud of our community and deeply thankful for every act of kindness and support.
