More than 30 years ago, The Ritz Theatre Company was founded to bring live, quality, professional productions to our region … and we’re still doing it today. Throughout our history, we’ve aspired to make theatre accessible to everyone, to entertain our audiences with favorites, to challenge them (and ourselves) with complex works, to provide onstage training for actors, to introduce kids to the ma

gic of live theatre, and to help restore the historic building we call our home. Managed by our staff, supported by a dedicated volunteer base, bolstered by our loyal subscribers, and sustained by our generous sponsors and donors, the Ritz remains a gem in the community it gratefully serves.

🎭 Subscriber Appreciation Night 2026!

Each season, we celebrate the patrons whose support helps make our work possible. As part of this year's Subscriber Appreciation Night on June 8th, Ritz subscribers are invited to a special presentation of INSIDE THE BOX, FROM HER PERSPECTIVE, a compelling 50-minute historical drama by playwright and historian Lori Strelecki.

The play explores the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln through the eyes of three women who were present at Ford’s Theatre on April 14, 1865: actress and theatre manager Laura Keene, First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln, and eyewitness Clara Harris. Through their stories, audiences experience one of the most pivotal nights in American history from a uniquely personal perspective.

Bringing these women to life is acclaimed actress Patricia Durante (pictured), a veteran performer, singer, and director with more than 35 years of professional experience. A proud member of Actors Equity and graduate of New York’s American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), Patricia has performed throughout the United States and Europe in musicals, Shakespeare, concerts, and theatrical productions. Her many honors include two NJ Tony Awards for Best Leading Actress, a Telly Award for Best Actress, and the DC Metro Arts Award for Outstanding Performance in Drama. Her powerful storytelling and remarkable versatility make this a performance not to be missed.

Subscriber Appreciation Night is a complimentary event reserved exclusively for current Ritz subscribers. We look forward to thanking our subscribers for their continued support with an evening of history, artistry, and exceptional theatre.

💜 Not a subscriber yet? Subscriptions for our 2027 season go on sale this summer and include access to special subscriber events throughout the year.

SYNOPSIS: La Gringa is about a young woman’s search for her identity. Maria Elena Garcia goes to visit her family in Puerto Rico during the Christmas holidays and arrives with plans to connect with her homeland. Although this is her first trip to Puerto Rico, she has had an intense love for the island, and even majored in Puerto Rican Studies in college. Once Maria is in Puerto Rico, she realizes that Puerto Rico does not welcome her with open arms. The majority of the Puerto Ricans on the island consider her an American – a gringa – and Maria considers this a betrayal. If she’s a Puerto Rican in the United States and an American in Puerto Rico, Maria concludes that she is nobody everywhere. Her uncle, Manolo, spiritually teaches her that identity isn’t based on superficial and external definitions, but rather is an essence that she has had all along in her heart.

CHARACTERS:

MARÍA ELENA GARCÍA – 22 year-old Puerto Rican-American woman, born and raised in New York City; considered a “Nuyorican;” young and naïve.

MANOLO COFRESÍ – Early 60s, her uncle; had dreams of pursuing acting when he was young; although he is very ill and near death, he possesses a lively spirit and a great sense of humor.

IRIS BURGOS – María’s cousin, 24 years old; extroverted and a bit jealous of her cousin María.

NORMA BURGOS – María’s aunt, Iris’ mother and Manolo’s sister; 40s to 60s; never pursued her dream of being a singer and lives with much bitterness and resentment in her spirit.

VÍCTOR BURGOS – Norma’s husband, 40s to 60s; possesses a great deal of positive energy and has a huge capacity for love.

RAMÓN “MONCHI” REYES – A neighbor, 24 years old; has an entrepreneurial spirit; started his own farm and falls in love with María.

🎭🧡 Meet Hugo… if you dare. 🧡🎭

Our Ritz Stage Starz teens are bringing ATYPICAL BOY to life this June!

In a world where “conformity is compulsory,” Boy is labeled a monster for being different. After fleeing into a strange world of creatures, he encounters Hugo: wild, unpredictable, and ruled by his monster side. As Boy struggles between acceptance and fear, Hugo becomes a powerful reflection of the battle between humanity and conformity.

This imaginative and moving production explores individuality and the courage to embrace who you truly are.
