🎨 Congratulations again to our People's Choice Award winner, Gaylon Thompson!
Fresh off his win at Terra Rosa Art Gallery's Fourth Annual "Wait 5 Minutes" Exhibition, Gaylon is sharing his talent and expertise through a special oil painting class this summer.

🖌️ OIL PAINTING CLASS with Gaylon Thompson
🗓️ June 24 – August 5, 2026
📅 Wednesdays (6 Weeks)
⏰ 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
💲 $200

Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or have years of experience, this class is designed for artists of all skill levels!

🌄 Beginners will start with an 8x10 landscape and learn to draw an image using a grid on the canvas. You will also learn how to underpaint, mix colors, and judge values. Finally, you will complete a painting from start to finish.

🎨 Intermediate artists will learn composition, how to set up a still life, working from warm to cool colors, dark to light, thin to thick, and much more.

✨ Experienced painters can utilize Gaylon’s extensive knowledge to help you enhance your paintings. He can serve as an additional set of eyes and offer suggestions to enhance your painting abilities.

Terra Rosa Art Gallery is proud to present Back Roads and Byways: Where the Journey Inspires the Art, a captivating exhibition that explores the beauty, character, and inspiration found beyond Oklahoma’s well-traveled highways.

While Route 66 may be our state’s most famous road, some of the most memorable discoveries happen when you venture off the beaten path. This exhibition features talented artists from across Oklahoma working in a variety of mediums and styles, each sharing unique perspectives inspired by hidden gems, winding roads, expansive landscapes, and quiet moments along the journey.

🎉 We are excited to announce the Grand Winner of the Terra Rosa Art Gallery People's Choice Award! 🎉

This award is presented to the artist who received the most votes for a single painting during our Fourth Annual “Wait 5 Minutes” Statewide Juried Exhibition.

Congratulations to Gaylon Thompson, whose outstanding piece, "Hank Give Me an Update," captured the hearts of our visitors and earned the highest number of votes! As the People's Choice Award winner, Gaylon will receive a $200 cash prize.

If you didn’t know this, here’s some statistics Oklahoma you can do better!

Due to the removal of fine arts graduation requirements, thousands of Oklahoma students are graduating without the creative problem-solving and collaboration skills that the modern economy demands.

Our Arts Education Data Dashboard reveals a sobering reality: there is currently a 16.8% gap in arts access across the state. This means a significant portion of our graduates have not taken an art class in high school.

Failing to require arts education is a setback for Oklahoma’s future workforce. 💼🎨

Our historic building has a full upstairs that will soon open for even more creative experiences, and we are excited to announce our class series for kids!

Each class begins with a short creative warm-up where students can freely explore materials connected to the day’s lesson. Guided instruction for the main project follows, with students completing artwork to take home by the end of class.

These classes are designed to stand alone, while also naturally building on one another for a more comprehensive creative experience.
