Calling all SW District friends!! 🎭💚

Do YOU love the IHSSA as much as we do?? Well, have we got a deal for you!! Certify to judge this fall, and be ready to say, “YES!!” when our Contest Managers call.

No pre-registration is required.

Cost is $10 to certify.

Today, AC⚡️GC Junior Megan Underwood kicked off her school year as a member of IHSSA’s RISE Student Ensemble. She is 1 of 13 students across the State of Iowa, representing the 40,000+ IHSSA-participating students for the 2026-2027 school year. We are thrilled for this opportunity and look forward to supporting and representing the greater IHSSA community!! 💚🎭

Yesterday, members of the AC⚡️GC Speech + Theatre Departments got to meet American novelist, playwright, screenwriter, film director, + film producer, Peter Hedges. He is most famous for the book + movie, “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” which he has converted into a musical by the same name that will begin its run off-Broadway next summer in NYC. Peter graduated from Valley HS + loves to ride RAGBRAI. HOW COOL IS THIS?!

Owen Dinkla will be performing as “Shrek” in DMACC’s Concert Performance of SHREK THE MUSICAL, IN CONCERT.
📅 July 24-26.
⏰ 6PM.
📍 ICI Auditorium, Building #7 - DMACC in Ankeny.
🎟️ No charge for admission.

Tommy Bates will be performing as “Pinocchio” in Carroll Community Theatre’s SHREK THE MUSICAL.
📅 July 24-August 1.

Several AC⚡️GC students will perform in the Opening Medley of the Awards Showcase, on Thursday, May 28 at 7pm at the Civic Center in Des Moines. It will be live-streamed at https://www.iowapbs.org/ and broadcast on Iowa PBS at a later date. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, May 15 at 10am and can be purchased through DMPA.org or by calling the ticket office at 515.246.2300.
